Introduction
The vision for the Centre for Business Growth is to demonstrate research excellence by addressing strategically important questions in the field of business and management that have economic, social and/or environmental impact, through research activities, knowledge exchange and/or collaborations with industry.
The centre aims to:
- Build a robust research ecosystem in the strategic areas of sustainability for societal impact and innovation for business practice.
- Facilitate researchers to do cross-disciplinary research to address evolving local, national and global research priorities to create sustainable impact.
- Direct the researchers to publish in high impact peer-reviewed journals.
- Increase the proportion of research & knowledge exchange projects with industry.
The centre develops creative solutions for business growth around a central research question:
What are the opportunities and challenges for business growth in emerging economies, and how should businesses respond?
CBG addresses this question in collaboration with key agencies in local, regional, national, and developing economy settings, including businesses, labour, government, and civil societies. The centre will lay the foundation in creating two key areas of focus, namely: Sustainability for societal impact, Innovation research for business practice.

CBG focusses on working in alignment with major Government and International initiatives such as the UN SDGs, Atmanirbhar Bharat, Swachch Bharat, National Education Policy and Zero Defect Zero Effect (ZED). The centre aims to attract some of the most talented research-active academics from across several disciplines (from different parts of the world) combined with the University’s strategic investment plan to recruit a significant number of researchers and doctoral researchers to carry out new and innovative business and management research. CBG will work collaboratively with academic colleagues, communities, businesses, and policy-makers to produce world-class research to help achieve the University’s vision of research excellence that will shape businesses in emerging economies for the 21st century.
