Redressal of Grievances
GITAM (Deemed to be University) is committed to provide integrated access to information for students regarding their examinations and evaluation. The following mechanisms are in place, for redressal of examination-related grievances of students and to ensure transparency.
Redressal of Grievances Guidelines
Re-totaling :
Re-totalling of the theory answer scripts of the end-semester examinations is permitted on request, on payment of the prescribed fee within seven days from the date of announcement of the results.
Revaluation :
- Revaluation of the theory answer scripts of the end-semester examinations is also permitted on request, on payment of the prescribed fee within seven days from the date of announcement of the results.
- This provision is given to UG Programmes with Single Valuation only.
- There is no option to apply for a reevaluation of any special exams.
Reappearance for Backlogs :
- A student who has secured ‘F’ grade in a theory programme shall have to reappear for the examination as per the regulations to improve the grade.
- A student who has secured ‘F’ grade in a practical programme shall have to attend special Instruction classes to improve the grade.
- A student who has secured ‘F’ grade in Project work / Industrial Training etc., has to re-appear for Viva – Voce to improve the grade.
A provision for Answer Book Verification & Challenge Valuation was given on the following conditions.
UG Programmes :
- The verification is allowed only after announcement of revaluation results in case of UG programmes.
- If the student is not satisfied with the marks awarded in revaluation, he/she can apply for Answer Book verification on payment of prescribed fee for each paper (Programme) within one week after announcement of Revaluation results.
- If the student is not satisfied with the marks awarded after Answer Script Verification (i.e. Revaluation marks), he/she can apply for Challenge Valuation on payment of prescribed fee for each paper (Programme) within two weeks from the date of Answer Book Verification.
PG Programmes :
- The verification is allowed only after announcement of results in case of PG programmes.
- If the student is not satisfied after announcement of results, he/she can apply for Answer Book verification on payment of prescribed fee for each paper (Programme) within one week after announcement of results.
- If the student is not satisfied with the marks awarded after verification of Answer Script (i.e. Announcement of results), he/she can apply for Challenge Valuation on payment of prescribed fee for each paper (Programme) within two weeks from the date of Answer Book Verification.
- The students can apply online by paying the prescribed fee and submit the application (Hard copy) for each programme to the Directorate of Evaluation.
A regular student who has completed period of study and still has “F” grade in final semester courses is eligible to appear for special examination.
Candidate who has completed his/her period of study and has ‘F’ grade in only one theory course even after special examinations is eligible to appear for special drive examination.
- A student, who has secured only a Pass or Second class and desires to improve his/ her Class, can appear for Betterment Examinations only in Theory course.
- Student can appear for the “N” number of subjects, where “N” is number of semesters studied.
- Betterment of grades is permitted ‘only once’ immediately after completion of regular program of study.
- Candidates who have secured less than the prescribed percentage of marks in the continuous evaluation component of a course (Theory / Practical) are eligible for RCE by attending Special Instruction classes.
- Candidates can appear for RCE ‘only once’ for any course in the entire period of study.
- Candidates currently studying a Programme can appear for a maximum of six programmes at a time.
- There is no such limit for candidates who have completed their study.
