About CAS
The Centre for Autonomous Systems is dedicated to advancing autonomous technology through world-class research, high-quality training, and industry collaboration. It focusses on designing, developing, enhancing, and analysing autonomous systems.
The Centre unites students and faculty from Engineering, Management, and Science to collaborate on next-generation robotics and autonomous vehicles—underwater, ground, aerial, and more!
Our Mission & Vision
CAS has set the following goals to guide its activities and efforts:
- Bridging the gap between academia, research, and industries in the domain
- Uniting students and faculty for future-focused research to build autonomous systems
- Becoming the preferred research partner for translating outcomes into commercial products
- Attracting, retaining, and delivering high-quality research talent for industry and academia
- Bringing research to the undergraduate classrooms and reinforcing a practice-based approach
- Achieving sustainability in funding, talent, and delivery of world-class research
Key Research Areas
The Centre for Autonomous Systems will focus its advanced research on robotics, autonomous underwater, ground, and aerial vehicles, with the primary research areas being:
- Mechanical design exploration of autonomous systems
- Multi-sensor system integration, data fusion, and perception
- Control systems for remotely controlled or unmanned system operation
- Localisation, navigation, and communication of autonomous vehicles
- Machine learning and artificial intelligence
- Robustness (reliability, longevity, and safety)
