Boys Hostels

GITAM's men’s residence have the choice of A/C or non-A/C accommodation. Sharing options range from 3 to 4 occupants per room. Every room is furnished with basic amenities like, rooms have beds, Mattresses, study table with chair and wardrobe to keep clothes and other belongings, valuables have to be kept in lock and key, bed Sheet, Pillow covers, and ample room for its occupants to make the spaces their own. Indoor games, a badminton court and varied activities offer opportunities to unwind and get social.

Hostel Rules & Regulations

For GITAMites to have the most safe, secure and comfortable stay on campus during their time here, the university has a few guidelines in place for the residences.

Ragging is strictly prohibited. If a Residence student is involved in any such activity, which causes inconvenience, embarrassment or constitutes physical or mental violence towards other residents, they shall be dealt with severely as per UGC guidelines.

The residents should furnish the permanent and temporary address, telephone and mobile number of the parent/ guardian. Any change of the above-mentioned information should be intimated to the student residence administration.

1. Unauthorized changing of rooms is not allowed. As per the need, whenever it is required the administration reserves the right to shuffle their rooms. In this regard, objections are not entertained from the residents.

2. Yearly/semester renewal in the residence is based on the student's behavior and academic performance. If any student fails or is detained in any semester, they will not be permitted to stay in the Residence further.

3. All the residents should hand over the room in person at the end of the semester/academic year to the Residence Manager.

4. After the completion of the final semester the student must vacate the Residence immediately before the last date as notified by the Residence Manager after clearing all Residence and dining bills if any are pending.

5. If a student is expected to continue in the Residence beyond the last date notified for some specific reason, they must obtain permission from the Residence manager.

1. Residents are not supposed to indulge in any type of verbal or physical violence with their fellow residents or staff. they are required to maintain peace and decorum on the premises. Any resident who indulges in any sort of activity that violates this will face disciplinary action and will be dealt with as per the laws of the state.

2. Residents are not supposed to possess any objectionable or illegal items. The Residence Manager is at liberty to inspect the belongings including the cupboards of the residents, in case of any doubt or suspicions, at any time irrespective of whether the resident is available or not. Residents are liable to expulsion if any such objectionable items are found.

3. All residents should maintain their residences clean and cooperate with the staff. Residents are not permitted to make any loud noises. All students should switch off their lights and fans when leaving the room. Quiet time is to be observed from 10 Pm - 7 am and any activity amounting to disturbance will not be permitted.

4. if any intentional indiscipline is observed, a suitable fine will be imposed or the student may be expelled from the residence.

5. Posters/ captions/graffiti should not be written/pasted on the walls/doors etc., apart from the space provided for the same.

6. Residents are discouraged from staying in the rooms, particularly during their college timings except on genuine grounds with permission from the residence manager.

7. Residents are required to complete their online shopping pick-ups between 6 am - 9 pm only.

8. Residents are not permitted to entertain any outside guests in their rooms without prior permission from the residence manager. If any outsider is found in the residence without permission, a warning may be issued or a monetary fine may be collected from all residents of the room.

9. Residents are requested to receive phone calls between 6 AM - 10 PM to avoid causing disturbance to roommates. Anyone wanting to take late-night calls should move to the designated student lounge within the residence.

10. Residents are not permitted to use clothes iron or immersion heaters in their rooms. If any resident is found using the same, they are liable to pay a fine. Common facilities for ironing and hot water will be provided.

11. Celebrations are allowed only in designated student areas and at specified times to avoid inconveniencing other residents

12. Outdoor games and sports likely to cause damage to facilities indoors are not permitted.

13. Any type of personal/group celebrations must be restricted to designated areas with prior information and booking of venues. Care should be taken to ensure there is no disturbance caused to other residents.

14. Campus is a safe space for all residents. Any use of vulgar/explicit/abusive language, gestures or displays, any kind of discrimination based on gender/religion/caste/race will lead to immediate disciplinary action - issue of warning and/or expulsion from hostel based on severity of the violation under authority of Directorate of Hospitality.





 

1. Residents are expected to take the food prepared in the dining halls' mess and no outside food is allowed inside the dining hall or student room to ensure maintenance of hygiene.

2. Outside food may only be consumed in a designated area in each student residence.

3. No student should intentionally waste food material or damage the cutlery. Costs will be recovered from individuals found engaging in such activity.

4. Any food items and utensils from the dining hall should not be taken outside.

5. Any deviation in this regard will be considered seriously and punished suitably.

6. Dining hall timings will not be extended.

7. All Students should keep their rooms & hostel premises clean, room cleaning service will be provided in alternative days.
 

1. Security inside the residence and on the campus is monitored by the Residence Manager and Security Personnel. Students must cooperate fully and not argue with security personnel.

2. Hostel residents' identity card, must be produced for verification whenever required by the hostel/University administration and security.

3. Students should take care of their own belongings. Hostel authorities are not responsible for any loss of student's personal items such as cell phone, laptops or any other gadgets etc. As a Precaution, residents are advised not to keep any valuables like gold etc. or excess cash in the residences.

4. Students are responsible to lock the cupboards and doors while leaving the room.

1. All students should pay their fees in advance before the commencement of the semester/academic year without fail (rentals are subjected to change as decided by the management).

2. Caution deposit (Refundable fee) is not adjustable. This will be adjusted or refunded at the time of vacating the residence if the student discontinues studies or vacates the hostel for any reason whatsoever.

3. Hostel charges will be payable in 2 installments – per semester (or) annual in advance. A. The first installment of the hostel fee should be paid during the time of enrollment / arrival at the Hostels. B. The second installment of the hostel fee shall be payable 60 days before the start of the second semester. (Irrespective of the course duration)

4. Each semester is calculated as per the academic calendar of the institutes irrespective of their course duration/months.

1. Considering the geographical positioning of the campus and the paramount importance of ensuring the safety and well-being of our students, it is strongly advised that students are not encouraged to leave the campus between 9.00 PM - 6.00 AM. It is imperative that students, without exception, make their way back to their respective residences no later than 9 PM on weekdays and, at the very latest by 9.00 PM on weekends

2. Attendance will be recorded by the residence managers between 07:00 pm to 09.00 pm every night. Each resident has to personally sign the attendance register/ biometric attendance record every evening during the mentioned time at the residence reception. After recording attendance, the student is not permitted to leave the residence premises & if any students fail to do the biometric by 09:00 pm, then an automated message will go to the parent/guardian and to the concerned authorities. Strict action will be taken on those who fail to adhere to the rule.

1. UG Residents who wish to leave the student residence for overnight or longer duration (Leave of absence) shall first obtain permission from their parents. They can then apply for leave and obtain permission in writing two days in advance by sending an email to the Residence team (or) through online permission mode (G-Boarding).

2. The Residence staff will verify the leave permission from parents/guardians. Upon verification, they will approve the leave accordingly.

3.Students shall make an entry into the 'Leave of Absence' register/G-Boarding portal and intimate the name, contact details and address of their stay during this period & date of returning back to hostel.

4. For day outings on holidays (all days on which no academic work is scheduled), parents/guardians can give permission to the students in two ways: i. Once at the beginning of the semester for the entire semester - this must be specified in the declaration/application form in the appropriate section. Once parents specify such permission to students, students may take a day outing after making the necessary entry in the day outing register. (Not applicable for 01st year UG students). Declaration is applicable only for that particular semester and the timings will be 04:00pm to 07:00pm on weekdays and 06:00am to 07:00pm on holidays. ii. Every time their ward wants to avail the facility for day outing on holidays - In such cases, students may apply for day outing to Residence help desk / online permission mode 24 hours prior and Residence staff will verify the request from parents and issue permission to students.

5. The timing for Day outing on weekends and holidays for UG students is from 06:00 am to 09:00 pm. If any student wants to apply leave/outing permission during academic hours, should get the permission from their Mentor/HOIs.

6. Any student taking a 'day outing' (same day return) or 'Leave of absence' (overnight permission for more than one day) must make the entry into the appropriate register/online mode at the time of exit and return. Failure to comply with this requirement will result in revoking of permission for any further outing or leave of absence.

7. Final semester students can get the permission from their HODs/HOIs and also from parents for outing permission for any academic related works.

The student is permitted to go out of station for participating in various competitions only after submitting an application with proof along with the parent's consent to the Director and getting permission from the Director. The student has to intimate the residence manager and make an entry in the outstation register kept with them.

2. The student is permitted to go out of campus within the same city for participating in various competitions after submitting an application with proof and getting permission from the Director. The student has to intimate the residence manager and make an entry in the outstation register kept with them.

Parents and local guardians may visit between 5-8 PM on weekdays and between 10 AM - 8 PM on weekends and public holidays by appointment only.

The damage to the residential properties will be collected along with additional fines from the student concerned. If no specific student is identified, the same will be included in the general breakage/damage cost and will be collected from all residents of the particular block/floor as decided by the residence manager.
