BSc Environmental Science
GITAM’s BSc in Environmental Science is a comprehensive three-year programme that focuses on understanding the environment and the dynamic relationship between humans and their surroundings. Through the degree offered at our Visakhapatnam campus, students will explore various environmental policies, ecological interactions, sustainable solutions, and approaches to pollution and disaster management.
The Department of Environmental Science collaborates with traditional sciences, drawing on faculty expertise to address some of the most pressing environmental challenges. Graduates gain valuable knowledge and skills that prepare them for impactful careers in environmental sectors both in India and globally.
Students also have the opportunity to study rural environments and agricultural food systems, with a broad range of elective subjects such as archaeology, climatology, environmental law, and evolutionary biology, allowing them to tailor their learning to their interests and career goals.
Eligibility
Applicants must have obtained a minimum of 50% or a CGPA of 5.0 (55% for CBSE, ICSE, ISCSE, IGCSE, and IB) in their 10+2 examination or equivalent in any discipline from a recognised Central/State Board or its equivalent. Additionally, they must have qualified in the GAT (UG Science), AP EAPCET, CUET, JEE Main, NEET, or TS EAMCET.
Scope of the Programme
The scope for students of Environmental Science is vast, spanning both government and private sectors. A lesser-known but vital aspect of the field is that industries across all sectors—including construction, urban planning, and even the entertainment industry—require environmental specialists to assess and approve projects for their environmental impact.
Graduates can pursue careers in diverse fields such as urban planning, forestry, waste management, pollution control, food production, and environmental consulting. Additionally, roles in environmental advocacy, policy-making, and more offer unique opportunities to contribute to sustainable development and ecological conservation.
