The Five Year Plan
Strategy 2021-2025 is a comprehensive roadmap outlining the R&I Continuum's strategic direction for the next five years. Aligned with GITAM's overarching Research and Innovation priorities, this plan unifies our R&I efforts into a cohesive and efficient unit. To streamline operations, all R&I activities are categorised into four distinct components: Projects, Programmes, Groups, and Centres of Excellence.

MURTI Research Centres
GITAM has established the Multidisciplinary Unit of Research on Translational Initiatives (MURTI) research centres across all its campuses to foster a transformative research culture within the University.
At GITAM, we believe that the future of innovation thrives at the intersection of disciplines. MURTI aims to enhance scientific inquiry, drive the development of pioneering ideas, and contribute to building a robust knowledge economy. By promoting multidisciplinary research, we empower our faculty and students to approach complex challenges from a comprehensive, integrated perspective.
Our commitment to dismantling disciplinary boundaries and encouraging cross-field collaboration is pivotal in driving groundbreaking discoveries that create a meaningful impact on society. MURTI centres focus on six key research areas: basic science, mobility technologies, materials and manufacturing, communication technologies, agricultural technologies, and sensor technologies. In alignment with the New Education Policy, we also encourage undergraduate students to actively engage in research activities.
State-of-the-art laboratories and resources have been established as part of this initiative, empowering faculty to conduct cutting-edge research. While these facilities primarily serve MURTI-affiliated members, they are available to any faculty member with a compelling scientific question, further encouraging an open and inclusive research environment.
MURTI's ultimate goal is to foster an intellectually stimulating ecosystem that brings together researchers, experts, and stakeholders from diverse fields, ensuring a holistic approach to research that addresses regional, national, and global challenges.

Projects
Research Projects are individual endeavours driven by researchers' interests in specific scientific fields. These projects generally operate independently of departmental or institutional strategies.
Programmes
Research Programmes represent a portfolio of projects initiated and managed by individual departments. While they may involve collaborations with other departments, the overarching programme objectives are defined by the originating department. Each department will establish strategic programmes aligned with its long-term research goals and areas of expertise.

Groups
Research Groups are formal, interdisciplinary collaborations that transcend departmental boundaries. Formed around specific thematic areas, these groups leverage the combined expertise of researchers to advance knowledge in their respective fields. Aligned with the broader institutional research themes, Research Groups are the primary drivers of R&I activities, fostering long-term collaborations and significant research outcomes.
