Department of Fine and Performing Arts, GITAM School of Humanities and Social Sciences, aims to benchmark itself in the areas of Music, Dance, Theatre Arts, and Fine Arts programs. The Department of Fine and Performing Arts aims to synthesize theory and practice in the young artists in the true sense.
Career Prospects
Students who enroll in these Minor programs can further opt for a variety of Masters Programs either in the Art forms learned or in disciplines Indology, Musicology or Rhythmology. Students can also opt for roles as teachers, choreographers, stage and set managers or pursue further studies to train as curators, archivists or museologists, preserving India’s vibrant cultural traditions.
Courses
The curricula are well-equipped to meet the traditional and contemporary needs of academic pursuits. The courses tailor to the semester system the best selection of the traditional knowledge usually imparted within the Guru-Shishya Parampara. Frequent programs, lecture demonstrations, and workshops by industry experts expose students to the enormous possibilities of this discipline. The Department offers BA Minor courses in Kuchipudi, Bharatanatyam, Mohiniyattam, Carnatic Vocal, Mridangam, Theatre Arts, and Visual Arts. The Curriculum gives a holistic understanding of the Historical, Cultural, Spiritual, Philosophical, and Sociological context of Artforms.
