Shanmukha Anand Pothana holds a PhD in Biotechnology from Sri Venkateswara University, ICAR-SRF at Andhra University, received training on microbial process optimization at IICT, Hyderabad, and plant biomarkers at TERI, New Delhi. His research focuses on bioprospecting natural resources for product development and translation. Guided three PhD students to completion. He has led a UGC-funded project and contributed to others funded by MoEF and BRNS. He is also the Deputy Director at R & D Cell.
