Nano technology laboratory:

Nano technology lab in the department of chemistry houses facilities required for research in nano science and related areas. Powder X- ray diffractometer, particle size analyser, FTIR, belsorb surface analyser, optical microscope and programmable ovens are a few to name. The lab is dedicated to synthesis of materials for hydrogen storage, luminescent phosphors and biomimetic materials.

Animal biotechnology research lab established in the department of biotechnology is used to perform various animal cell lines based experiments and proteome analysis of silk worm. It is also equipped with insilico drug design and development of various drugs and conducting experiments using model organism such as silkworm. The instruments that are available in the lab are CO2 incubator, inverted microscope, cooling centrifuge, hybridization oven, transblot turbo, IEF unit and 2D gel unit. The facilities available are used for analysis of proteins, nucleic acids and for testing toxic effects of drugs. The lab is designed to cater to the needs of students and research scholars with state-of-art technology.

Advanced Laboratory of Department of Environmental Studies:

The department of environmental studies is well endowed with state-of-the-art laboratory equipment funded by department of science and technology, New Delhi under FIST programme to support effective on-hand training to the students in various dimensions of scientific research. This will help them to understand the subjects and various advanced techniques clearly. The on-hand training obtained by the students will enable them to develop required skills to cater the needs of the industries and R & D sector. The major equipment sanctioned under the FIST programme is gas chromatography, total organic carbon analyser, ion chromatography, water purification system etc. besides other existing sophisticated equipment for analysis of air, water and soil elements. The equipment also aids research in the areas of environmental pollution, water resources, air pollution, bioremediation (phytoremediation and microbial remediation), biodegradation studies, trace element geochemistry and waste water treatment etc.

Cancer Biology Lab

Cancer biology lab facilitates cutting-edge basic science research with the goal of identifying novel therapeutic strategies for the treatment of cancer. The equipment funded by DST, UGC, DRDO and ICMR include inverted fluorescent microscope, gel documentation system, automated cell counter, CO2 incubator, nanodrop spectrophotometer, submerged gel electrophoresis and western blot units, -80oC and liquid nitrogen storage facilities, microplate reader and RT-PCR system. The primary focus of research in this lab is to target growth, metastasis and angiogenesis of breast cancer and brain cancer (glioma) with small interfering RNAs and lipid raft disrupting agents using both cell culture and mice models. These studies will clarify the basic mechanisms underlying cell behavior and lead to a better understanding of cancer.
