GITAM School of Education, Hyderabad
GITAM (Deemed to be University) announces the launch of the "GITAM School of Education" at its Hyderabad campus. The 02 new programs under Integrated Teacher Education Programme (ITEP) and the same is aligned with the India's National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.
Based on the application and Scrutiny , the Letter of Intent (LoI) has been issued by the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) and the programs are expected to be offered from the AY 2025-26*.
ITEP is a four-year integrated degree that combines education with specializations in science, mathematics, or social sciences.
Programmes Offered
Following are the 02 Integrated Teachers Education Programmes to be offered from AY 2025-26.
- Four Year Integrated Teachers Education Programme – B.Sc. B.Ed.* Integrated Teacher Education Programme combining a rigorous science curriculum with teacher training.
- Four Year Integrated Teachers Education Programme – B.A. B.Ed.* Integrated Teacher Education Programme merging a comprehensive arts curriculum with teacher education.
* Subject to Letter of Approval by NCTE, New Delhi.
Programme Details
- Duration: 4 years (integrated)
- The curriculum includes foundational subjects, educational psychology, pedagogy, classroom management, and extensive practical teaching experience. A detailed curriculum will be announced shortly.
- Programmes emphasise practical training, experiential learning, and exposure to real-world teaching environments through supervised internships.

Principal/Professor/Associate Professor in Education
- Postgraduate degree in Sciences, Mathematics, Social Sciences, or Languages
- M.Ed. & Ph.D. in Education
- 10 years of teaching experience for a Professor & 8 years for an Associate Professor
Assistant Professor – Liberal Discipline and Pedagogy
- Postgraduate degree in Sciences (Physics, Chemistry, Botany, Zoology, Life Sciences, Biosciences), Mathematics, Social Sciences (History, Geography, Political Science, Economics), or Languages (English, Modern Indian Languages, Classical Languages)
- Minimum 55% marks or equivalent grade
- B.Ed. degree with a minimum 55% marks
- National Eligibility Test (NET) / State Level Eligibility Test (SLET) / PhD in Education or relevant subject as per UGC norms
Assistant Professor – Educational Studies
- Postgraduate degree in Education (M.Ed.)
- Minimum 55% marks or equivalent grade
- National Eligibility Test (NET) / State Level Eligibility Test (SLET) / Ph.D. in Education
