INDUCTION PROGRAMME
The twister, that tries to transform the rudimentary incumbents into enthusiastic budding managers, appraising what to admit and what to achieve during the stay in GIM is all about the orientation program. This is conducted at starting of every academic year.
MANAGEMENT CLUB
The GIM Management Club has been formed with all the students of the Institute to provide a forum to enrich and enhance the knowledge of its members by exposing them to the practical aspects of business by organising Lectures, Seminars and Symposia on Management related topics. The Club organises competitions in Academic, Cultural, Literary, Sports events and awards prizes. The Club also sponsors students to participate in various B-Schools’ competitions held around the country.
LAKSHYA
“Lakshya” (Intra-mural Athletic Competition) is organised every year in connection with the Annual Day Celebrations of the Institute. Track and field events are conducted for individuals and department-wise. The winners get medals and certificates on the Annual Day.
INSTITUTE ANNUAL DAY
GIM celebrates its Annual Day every year in the month Feb’-March. On this day, the Institute magazine “PRAGATHI” is released to showcase the progress of the institute and students for the academic year completed.
GIM instituted several Gold Medals and Prizes for toppers with a view to motivate the students for achieving academic excellence, punctuality in class room attendance, acquire managerial qualities and to attain proficiency in literary, sports and cultural events. Over 200 medals and prizes are given annually on the occasion of Annual Day function.
GITAM MANAGEMENT EXCELLENCE MEET (GEM)
Once in two years, the students of GIM organizes GITAM MANAGEMENT EXCELLENCE MEET(GEM) by inviting students of B-School from around the country. The objective of the meet is to organize an event of this scale which requires excellent managerial skills to make it a success. The students with the help of faculty form committees to carry-out various activities held during three days. The meet is being organized since 1995. Over 500 contestants from over 50 B-school participate in this highly energetic event. Over 2000 students from around Visakhaptnam come to watch the show. This is an excellent opportunity to show case the team working and leadership qualities of students.
SIFE ACTIVITIES
Since 2005, students of GIM are engaged in various outreach activities under Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE). Over 60 students are active in raising funds and using it for the benefit of needy population in the remote corners of the country. They have extensively done surveys; in the states of Orissa & Andhra Pradesh to understand the status of people in rural areas. The SIFE-GIM has donated solar Lamps in a village which brought laurels in the media. The team won Regional contest in 2004-05 and again runner-up in National event in the year 2009-10.
YOGA
All the new students are given 20 day training in Yoga by YOGA Master in the premises. This is compulsory for all the students.
ETHICS WEEK
A week programs of seminars, debate, essay contest, rally etc to sensitize every one around on following values and ethics in personal well as professional life. This is organized every year in the month of Feb-March with the support from local industry.
INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY
As mark of respect for Women for their contribution to mankind, GIM celebrates INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY by organizing contests, seminars and recognize outstanding women in their profession as part of day long celebrations. All the girl students participate in organizing this event.
NATIONAL INTEGRATION DAY
Rally mark the occasion on the Flag Day. Students organize fund raising and the amount collected is sent to Govt. of India towards Communal Harmony. This activity will also sensitize students the importance of communal harmony.
YOUTH FESTIVAL
SIFE chapter at GIM organizes every year International Youth Day with activities and contests to mark the occasion. This is most exciting event for all the students as they can showcase their talent on a big setting.
SAMBHAV SAMBHAV is an annual Management Festival of completely driven by the students of the institute. It is organized every year in the month of February. Students from reputed business schools from different parts of the Country will come and participate in this event. The event comprises business quizzes, business plan, finance, marketing and management games, and cultural programs. It gives an opportunity to Students to give expression to their leadership and organizational skills.
SAMBHAV-2009
This Annual Event is scheduled to be held in September, 2009. Over 200 Students will be participating in various events representing Management Institutes from Bombay, Bangalore, Hyderabad etc. During the Programme events such as young Managers, Market Makers, Volteface, Paper presentations and Culturals are being organised by our students.
