Andhra, led to the conception of ‘GITAM Dental
College & Hospital”. GITAM Dental College and
Hospital, established in the year 2001, is situated
in a sprawling campus amidst lush green
surroundings, close to the beach. It is an ideal
eco-friendly location suitable for a peaceful and
studious environment. Pupils can derive utmost
benefit from their studies and patients can get
quality dental care.
Dental care has been gaining importance over the
years, due to increased health consciousness among
all classes of people. GITAM Dental College &
Hospital aims at providing optimal oral health care
to everyone in general and to the poor and rural
population in particular.
GITAM Dental College & Hospital is one of the
premier educational institutions offering quality
and affordable Dental care in India. The Dental
College has excellent infrastructure with over
1,65,000 sft. Of built up area and is the largest of
its kind, in Andhra Pradesh. It has well equipped
state-of-the-art library, excellent internet
facilities, modern clinical departments and
pre-clinical laboratories. The lecture halls are
furnished with latest teaching aids and there are
several seminar rooms. The library is located in a
peaceful environment with a good collection of
textbooks and National & International journals.
There is free transport facility for the patients
and the treatment is also provided free of cost for
the deserving poor.
The College presently offers Bachelor of Dental
Surgery (B.D.S) Course of four years duration
followed by one year compulsory Rotatory Internship
Programme. The College admits 100 students per
annum and is affiliated to NTR University of Health
Sciences. The Management is planning to start
‘Dental Technician’ and ‘Dental Hygienist’ courses
shortly.
GITAM Dental College & Hospital has a blend of
experienced, knowledgeable, young and dedicated team
of professionals who are very competent and well
qualified. The curriculum is designed to guide the
students towards acquiring expertise in both theory
& clinical aspects of Dental and basic medical
sciences. Quality education is imparted with the
latest technical know-how, to the students of GITAM
Dental College & Hospital. The students are groomed
by the faculty to be adept in knowledge and
practical skills and also to inculcate the basic
virtues of discipline and service. The young minds
are encouraged to deliberate and be inquisitive.
The combined efforts of Management, Faculty and
Students helped the College to secure ‘Recognition
of BDS Course’ by the Dental Council of India and
the Union Ministry of Health & Family Welfare. With
this GITAM Dental College & Hospital became eligible
to start Post Graduation Courses ( Master of Dental
Surgery) from the academic year 2007-2008.
GITAM Dental College & Hospital also houses a 550
seat capacity Auditorium and an E-learning Center.
The campus provides indoor and outdoor sports
facilities including international standard tennis
courts. Students are encouraged to develop their
skills in extra curricular activities and cultural
events.
GITAM Dental College & Hospital conducts frequent
dental health camps for educating, motivating and
treating the general public, especially the rural
population, so as to improve their oral hygiene and
health status.
