          The department is spread over an area of 2080 sq. meters of instructional area built in RCC which includes well ventilated class rooms, laboratories, work shops and other facilities. The department consists of the following laboratories with modern equipment.

  1. Power Electronics laboratory
  2. Electrical machines laboratory
  3. Networks and Machines laboratory
  4. Control systems laboratory
  5. Digital Electronics and  Microprocessor laboratory
  6. Power Systems laboratory
  7. Electrical Workshop
  8. Simulation laboratory
  9. Networks and Measurements laboratory

          All the laboratories are well equipped with advanced equipment and software packages like MATLAB, PSCAD, ETAP etc., to impart training to the students according to modern curriculum approved by NBA.

 
     
  Achievements   
              Our students are recruited by software companies and core companies. Some of the companies are TCS, WIPRO, Accenture, Infosys, Satyam, L&T, Jindal Electrical, Konaseema Gas Power, Dalmia Cements, JK Paper etc. The average percentage of placements is 55% and average salary and highest salary offered are Rs.2.4 lakhs and 7.2 lakhs per annum respectively.  
     
  Research and Consultancy Projects  
 
  • Research output : Ms.G.Saraswathi submitted Ph.D. Thesis on “Order reduction of large scale and uncertain systems”  in the month of June, 2009.
  • Consultancy Projects: Prof.A.SrinivasaRao completed the Major UGC Research Project  entitled “Commutattor motor using IGBTs 1999 – 2002.
  • Research areas of the Department

              The Research areas of the Department are 1) Reduction of large scale systems 2) Energy Management, 3) Power Electronics 4) Model Reduction to Power Systems 5) Adaptive Power System Stabilizers & 6) Power Quality.
